The Queen Victoria Women’s Centre is home to a range of organisations that offer services, facilities and information primarily to people who identify as women*. Although each organisation is independently run, there is a strong sense of community at the Centre. Check out who calls the QVWC home in 2024!
Counterpart – women supporting women with cancer
Counterpart connects, supports and informs women with cancer to live well. Counterpart is a service of Women’s Health Victoria and has been providing support services to women living with cancer since 2003.
The Counterpart Resource Centre is located on Level 2 of the Queen Victoria Women’s Centre and is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10.00am to 5.00pm, with Peer Support Volunteers available from 10.00am to 2.00pm. Counterpart’s volunteers all have lived experience of cancer and are trained to listen and offer emotional support and understanding. They can also give assistance finding reliable, evidenced-based information to help women make informed decisions for themselves.
Counterpart’s model is valued and trusted by health professionals. The service offers support and does not give medical, legal or financial advice or counselling.
Counterpart is supported by the Victorian Government.
CASA HOUSE
CASA House (Centre Against Sexual Assault) is part of the Royal Women’s Hospital, Parkville Victoria.
It is a government funded organisation which provides free and confidential services to victim/survivors of sexual assault on a 24 hour basis.
Services include an immediate crisis response to recent assaults; counselling, support & advocacy; groups; support for families; professional consultations; community education and research & public policy.

EMILY’S List Australia is a political, financial and personal support network for progressive Australian Labor Party women who are interested in running for public office and are committed to equity, childcare, equal pay, diversity and choice for women.
FLAT OUT
Flat Out is a state-wide homelessness support and advocacy service for women 18+ (with/without children), who have had contact with the criminal justice and/or prison system in Victoria. Flat Out is an independent, not for profit, community based organisation that is managed by and for women.
Flat Out is committed to co-creating safer spaces, fostering support and self-determination for people who identify as sistergirls, intersex, transgender and/or gender diverse women. We respect that identity is for the individual to define, and work collectively to ensure that people with these identities are accorded respect and access to our support and advocacy, and provided ongoing opportunities to inform policies concerning the intersection of their identities with experiences of criminalisation.

Gender Equity Victoria (GEN VIC) is an independent member organisation representing organisations and individuals across Victoria who are dedicated to achieving intersectional gender equality. GEN VIC evolved from the Women’s Health Association of Victoria (WHAV), which was formed in 1994 as a peak body for the women’s health sector and expanded in 2018 to provide support to a growing gender equity movement across industries, communities and sectors. Our vision is for a gender equal society where all people can thrive.

GUCK
GUCK is a 100% women founded, owned & operated software and games company. Currently GUCK is working on Australia's first ever Aboriginal-led mobile game, currently codenamed "Future Folklore". The project is made up of 80% women and 60% First Nations people. The team includes artists, designers, coders, composers, writers and more. GUCK is beyond stoked to have joined the incredible groups working at QVWC and is so excited for the outcomes of having a safe, self-determined space to work from. GUCK are our 2022 Creative Organisation in Residence.

MELBOURNE CENTRE FOR WOMEN’S MENTAL HEALTH
Established in 2018, Melbourne Centre for Women’s Mental Health Pty. Ltd. is an Australian feminist mental health service providing diverse programs for Victoria's women and girls. Their work spans three departments: Clinical Programs, Professional Programs, and Research/Publications. Committed to anti-oppressive approaches, their Clinical Programs address women's mental health with a multidisciplinary team skilled in anxiety, depression, eating disorders, trauma, neurodivergence and much more. Professional Programs include workshops and masterclasses to empower women at work and study. MCWH also offer events for their Professional Women's Network, blending personal and professional development. In Research/Publications, MCWH showcase diverse perspectives, often from lived experiences, and conduct research on women's mental health.

OVARIAN CANCER AUSTRALIA
Ovarian Cancer Australia is the peak organisation for ovarian cancer in Australia and the country’s only national organisation dedicated to raising awareness of ovarian cancer, delivering support to women and their families affected by the disease, and funding the best ovarian cancer research.
Ovarian Cancer Australia’s mission is to:
Support women with ovarian cancer, their families, friends and carers with compassionate support programs and practical resources.
Educate communities and individuals about the disease and increase their awareness of symptoms and the latest treatment, research and clinical trials from across Australia.
Advocate to improve outcomes, treatment and quality of life for women with ovarian cancer.
Fund innovative and world leading ovarian cancer research.
Each February is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, which includes Teal Ribbon Day on the last Wednesday of the month.
THE COUNCIL OF SINGLE MOTHERS AND THEIR CHILDREN INC.
Council of Single Mothers and Their Children (CSMC) has been committed to improving the conditions of single mothers and their families for over 40 years. Run by and for single mothers, our work is grounded in the experiences we hear from our members and callers.
CSMC operates a Victoria wide telephone information, support and referral line (Mon – Fri 9.30 – 3.00pm), assisting women with a wide range of issues including housing, domestic violence, Centrelink, family law and child support.
Membership is free for single mothers, and our newsletter and email bulletins keep members up to date with current issues affecting single mothers.
CSMC has a long and successful history of advocating to improve the circumstances of single mothers, work we continue through political advocacy, representation of single mother issues and involvement in research.

WOMEN’S ENVIRONMENTAL LEADERSHIP AUSTRALIA
WELA is Australia’s largest community of women and gender-diverse environmental and climate changemakers. We are connecting, training, and funding their leadership so that together we can transform Australia’s response to our environmental and climate crises.

WOMEN & MENTORING
Women and Mentoring (WAM) offer a unique, early intervention program that supports women and non-binary people charged with a criminal offence by matching them individually with a supportive mentor. The volunteer mentors are trained and resourced to provide appropriate support to the program participants, to share their skills and to contribute to the wider community.
